Kearney Lake Rd.-Parkland Dr. Road Construction

HRM Release:

(Thursday, October 7, 2010) – The water main sliplining project, being undertaken by Dexter Construction on behalf of Halifax Water, is currently progressing along Kearney Lake Rd. just north of Grosvenor Road, to just south of the intersection of Highway#102.

In order to complete pit excavation at the intersection of Kearney Lake Rd and Parkland Dr., traffic will be diverted to either side of the work area. As a result, there will be no left turns from Parkland Dr. onto Kearney Lake Rd. There will also be no left turns off Kearney Lake Rd. onto Parkland Dr.  The cross walk at the intersection from Kearney Lake Rd. to the east side of Parkland Dr. will be closed.

The duration of this traffic diversion is approximately 2 weeks.

Traffic flow will remain the same in the other sliplining work zones with two lane, two way traffic flow being maintained. All traffic in these zones will continue to be re-routed to inbound lanes. There will be no loss of municipal services.

Sidewalk access will be maintained in these work zones.

Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow. On site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize disruption.
Motorists are asked to use alternate routes where possible and to proceed carefully through the work zone. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones. Motorists are also asked to use extreme caution and be very diligent when driving through the area as it is a busy school zone.

We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure work may cause.
