Kings County RCMP arrest two youths in relation to structure fires, Aylesford, N.S.

Kings County RCMP are investigating two separate structure fires that occurred earlier this afternoon. At approximately 3 p.m. today, RCMP and the Aylesford, New Minas, Kentville, Kingston and Waterville Fire Departments responded to the scene of a major structure fire (abandoned barn) on Highway 1 in Aylesford.

At approximately 3 p.m. today, RCMP and the Aylesford, New Minas, Kentville, Kingston and Waterville Fire Departments responded to the scene of a major structure fire (abandoned barn) on Highway 1 in Aylesford.

While responding to this call, RCMP observed a second structure fire (abandoned house) a short distance from the first scene. Investigation done at the scenes allowed RCMP to arrest two youths in the area, fires are treated as suspicious at this time. Both buildings were a total loss, no one was injured in either occurrence.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the investigations to determine the exact cause of the fires. The youths, ages 15 and 17, remain in custody at this time. The investigation is continuing.
