At approximately 7:30 p.m. on September 4, Kings District RCMP and members from Annapolis Valley RCMP Traffic Services responded to a call of a disturbance at the Nova Scotia Youth Facility in Waterville.
Preliminary investigation revealed that four males, two 17-year-olds, an 18-year-old and 19-year-old, were involved in an altercation with staff. Five youth workers and one youth were injured. Four youth workers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries sustained during the incident. They have since been released. The fifth youth worker and male youth were treated by EHS on scene.
The four youth were taken into RCMP custody last evening, however have been released back into Nova Scotia Department of Justice Corrections custody.
The 19-year-old male has been charged with Mischief and Rioting. The 18-year-old has been charged with Mischief, Rioting, and Assault Causing Bodily Harm.
The investigation is now being led by Kings District RCMP General Investigation Section and is ongoing.
