Kings District RCMP arrest youth following school lockdown, Auburn, N.S.

Kings District RCMP arrested a youth in relation to a threat received by a student at the West Kings District High School (WKDHS) earlier today. At approximately 11 a.m.

Kings District RCMP arrested a youth in relation to a threat received by a student at the West Kings District High School (WKDHS) earlier today.

At approximately 11 a.m.

, Kings District RCMP received a report that a student at the WKDHS had received a threatening text from another person. As a precaution, the WKDHS was immediately placed in ‘Hold and Secure’ as RCMP rushed to the scene. At approximately 11:20 a.m., RCMP arrested a 16-year-old youth in New Minas without incident. He was taken into custody and is being interviewed in relation to this incident. RCMP can confirm that the suspect was not on school property.

A planned early dismissal was delayed due to this incident however students have now been released for the weekend. The investigation is continuing.
