Kings District RCMP has charged a man following an investigation of forcible confinement. The RCMP received the complaint on September 25, and arrested the accused later that day. When police arrived at the residence on Highway 1 in Grand Pré and entered the home, they located a 64-year-old man in a room that had been secured from the outside.
Investigation determined that the victim was allegedly held in the room against his will. He was removed from the home, left in the care of a family member and taken to Valley Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
The accused, 59-year-old Laurie Kendal Porter Jr., of Grand Pré, has been charged with Forcible Confinement.
He has been released on conditions and is set to appear on December 6, 2016 in Kentville Provincial Court.
The investigation is ongoing.
