Shortly after the fireworks were over at the Halifax Commons last evening (approx. 9:50PM) a fight broke out between two males.
One of the males pulled out a knife and attempted to stab the other male. There was a brief struggle.
Neither party was stabbed but both received minor injuries from the altercation.
The accused attempted to flee the area on foot. There were numerous police units in the area and they were able to take the accused into custody without incident.
Both parties were known to each other. A 39 year old male is being held for court on Tuesday being charged with assault with a weapon and possession of weapons dangerous.
