L’Oreal Caresse Wet Shine stains

Another hyped up product at the drugstores lately: L’Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine stains. Canada get these later than the US, which might explain why they haven’t even listed on L’Oreal Canadian website. The above link is to L’Oreal US but note the spelling of “colour” with a “u” (Canadian style) 🙂
I think there’s no doubt that L’Oreal stains resemble YSL Glossy stains, but they go for a sheer look (except for one shade) instead of full coverage. I personally happy with what L’Oreal offers (and the price range)

L’Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine stains are a cross between a stain and a gloss. The formula includes a blend of light hydrating oils and concentrated pigments, delivers lasting color with a glossy finish. Packed with 30% water, they are comfortable to wear and provide hydration that lasts up to 6 hours.
Among the 12 colours available, I bought Berry Persistent, Infinite Fuchsia, Coral Tattoo and Endless Red.
Please note that this product line does have a light scent that is noticeable during application and lasts a bit afterward.

Here are the swatches with flash.
Berry Persistent is a deeper fuchsia purple, the most pigmented among the 4 shades.
Infinite Fuchsia is the pink version of Berry Persistent, but not as pigmented.
Coral Tattoo is the only orange shade in the line, so I gotta have it. Quite sheer, with a tint of red in it.
Endless Red is not really a red on me, more like a bright coral pink. I haven’t seen a true red in this line.

In natural light, the colours seem to darken a little and look closer to the colour indicator on the tube.
Infinite Fuchsia and Endless Red look quite similar here, with Endless Red being just a tad more coral. I don’t think you would need both, unless you are a “collector” 🙂
Berry Persistent is definitely a must have with that crazy colour payoff, if you like dark lips.
Upon removal after about an hour on my hand, Coral Tattoo came off faster than the rest and left the slightest stain. The other three performed pretty well. On the lips, the colours wore off near the end of the day, and left a natural light tint to my lips. I did use a lip balm underneath, as with all my lip products, and did not feel they were drying.
These stains retail around $13 at drugstores. I am hoping L’Oreal will extend the colour range in very near future. I feel like I need more 🙂
