Provincial release:
Nova Scotians will be able to access some lab test results through the YourHealthNS app within24 hours of processing, down from the previous seven days.
The change, effective today, June 25, supports the Province’s ongoing efforts to improve access to digital health services and brings Nova Scotia in line with other Canadian jurisdictions.
“We’re continuing to make it easier for Nova Scotians to access their own health information,” said Michelle Thompson, Minister of Health and Wellness. “Having timely access to lab test records helps people stay informed and play a more active role in their care.”
The change applies only to lab test results available through YourHealthNS, mainly blood and urine tests. Diagnostic imaging reports available through the app will continue to be released 14 days after they have been verified.
Quick Facts:
– providing Nova Scotians access to their electronic health records to better manage their healthcare is part of a larger digital health transformation that includes YourHealthNS, virtual care, e-referrals, the Care Co-ordination Centre, the Oncology Transformation Project and the One Person One Record clinical information system
– an average of 3,000 people log in to YourHealthNS to view their records each day, with an average of 10 records viewed per login
– lab and diagnostic imaging records make up about60 per cent of all health records viewed by YourHealthNS users
