Lake Echo and Springfield Lake beaches reopened to swimming

Friday, Aug. 5, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that the following beaches have reopened to swimming:

  • Lake Echo Beach, Lake Echo, Eastern Shore
  • Springfield Lake Beach, Springfield Lake, Middle Sackville

Beach supervisors test the water quality weekly at all supervised municipal beaches during the summer months. Tests earlier this week showed high bacteria levels in the water at each of the above-noted beaches, but follow up tests show the water is once again safe for swimming, as per Health Canada guidelines.

For more information on supervised municipal beaches and outdoor pools across the Halifax region, please visit http://www.halifax.ca/rec/aquatics/beaches.php.
