Lake Echo Home Damaged By Fire

A Lake Echo family has been left homeless after an early morning fire on Saturday.

According to Scot Shaffner, Division 3 Commander, Halifax Fire crews were called to a house fire at 122 Thomas St in Lake Echo early Saturday morning. Upon arrival, fire crews found the basement of the house was fully involved.
Fire crews entered from the front and rear and promptly conducted primary and secondary searches of the house and confirmed there were no occupants in the house at that time.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire in about ten minutes followed by thorough searches to ensure there was no extension to the walls or ceilings.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time. Fire investigators will be investigating.

Red Cross is assisting the family with food and accommodations until other arrangements can be made.
