Lambda Literary Awards 2012 edition

The short lists for the 24th Annual Lambda Literary Awards were announced on March 20th. The awards “celebrate achievement in lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) writing for books published in 2011″. This year 119 books are included on the short lists in a range of categories covering LGBT writing in fiction (including romance, mystery and science fiction genres), memoir, poetry, drama and general LGBT studies. Quill and Quire magazine has already pointed out a showing of Canadian authors on the lists, with 7 Canadians being nominated across 5 categories.


For a complete list of the nominees, you can check out the awards site. Here’s a peek at which books were nominated in the lesbian and gay general fiction categories (including two of those Canadian nominees, Kristyn Dunnion and Farzana Doctor).
The winners will be announced on
June 4th.
