Nova Scotians are invited to attend the launch of Canada 150 celebrations and attend the annual lieutenant-governor’s New Year’s Day Levee on Sunday, Jan. 1, at Government House, Halifax.

The Canada 150 launch will start with a flag-raising and singing of O Canada. The levee will immediately follow the launch.

“As we enter a year of marking the 150th anniversary of Confederation, Mrs. Grant and I are pleased to welcome Nova Scotians of all ages to Government House to kick off the celebrations of our wonderful country,” said Lt.-Gov. J.J. Grant. “We also invite everyone to join in the New Year’s tradition of attending the levee.”

The levee is a unique opportunity for Nova Scotians to exchange New Year’s greetings with the lieutenant-governor and to visit the oldest vice-regal residence in North America.

The Canada 150 launch and levee will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The address for Government House is 1451 Barrington St.
