LED streetlight conversion moves into District 16 Bedford – Wentworth

Friday, Dec. 9, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – Residents are advised of work that will take place between now and the end of December in District 16 (Bedford – Wentworth), to convert traditional streetlights to new energy efficient LED streetlights.

Contracted utility crews and traffic control personnel will be working on-street in District 16 during daytime hours. Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists are asked to slow down when approaching these work sites; traffic control personnel will be on-site to direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic around the site as needed.

During this work, residents and motorists should expect minor traffic disruptions in the area and are advised to report any issues to 311.

The ongoing streetlight replacement is part of a two-year LED streetlight conversion project that will result in all 44,000 municipally-owned streetlights being converted to LED technology by the end of December 2017. Contracted crews have already completed conversion of streetlights in a number of districts across the region, as we reach the halfway point this project.

For more information on the LED streetlight conversion project, visit www.halifax.ca/traffic/LED.
