Let’s improve how we move; second round of Integrated Mobility Plan workshops get underway this week

Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to participate in a second round of public workshops being held as part of the Integrated Mobility Plan project, beginning on Wednesday, Nov. 30.

The Integrated Mobility Plan will create a long-term vision for regional transportation that will move people and goods more efficiently across the region, and help to direct future investment in transit, active transportation and roadways to manage demands on the network, and better connect residents and their communities. The plan stems from municipal policy direction in the Regional Plan for public transit, active transportation, the roadway network, and land use and growth centres.

Residents are invited to attend one of eight upcoming workshops to learn more about the Integrated Mobility Plan, what the project team heard during the first round of public consultation, and get feedback on proposed key action items and big ideas that would improve how you move.

Workshops will be held at the following locations with one session in the afternoon (12 p.m. to 2 p.m.) and one in the evening (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.):

•             Wednesday, Nov. 30, Dartmouth Sportsplex – Nantucket Room, 110 Wyse Road, Dartmouth

•             Thursday, Dec. 1, Italian-Canadian Cultural Centre – Auditorium, 2629 Agricola Street, Halifax

•             Wednesday, Dec. 7, Bedford-Hammonds Plains Community Centre – Arts & Crafts Room, 202 Innovation Drive, Bedford

•             Thursday, Dec. 8, Captain William Spry Centre – 16 Sussex Street, Halifax. (12 p.m. session in Meeting Room #2, 6 p.m. session in the                         Community Multipurpose Room)

Please note if you are unable to attend a workshop in person, all of the material presented will be posted to http://shapeyourcityhalifax.ca/integratedmobility on Wednesday, Nov. 30.

We encourage you to stay tuned to www.halifax.ca/integratedmobility over the next several months and participate in our future engagement opportunities; your feedback will help shape the way we move people around the region for years to come.
