    Pet Licensing Regulations

All prohibited animals under the grandfather clause and all dogs are required to be licensed annually by April 1. The licensing year runs from April 1 to March 31.

Owners are required to apply for a license within 10 days of obtaining a dog. If you  obtain a dog after September 30, you pay the pro-rated fee for your dog’s initial         license, which will be valid until the end of the licensing year (March 31). Prior to     April 1, you are required to pay the full fee for the next licensing year.

 
                You can license your pet:

                in person at any HRM Customer Service Centre or select veterinary                         clinics

             by mailing a completed licensing form with the correct payment to:

            renewals only- with a credit card by calling the HRM Call Centre at                             490-4000 (toll-free in NS at 1-800-835-6428.)
