Life is busy, but life is good!

I realized late last night that I haven’t written a post in a week and I really don’t have much time to write one but here’s a quick and dirty update:

  • I’ve been working like a mad man (I’ve heard that’s a good show).
In the last six weeks I’ve been putting in 14-16hr days, six days a week (I wonder if this has anything to do with the 8 migraines I’ve gotten in 6 weeks).

I landed a pretty sweet contract with a local company that does some leading-edge training solution development for the government and the opportunity was far too good for me to pass up on.

On top of that I am still doing my own contracts as untitled design (my design company) doing some logos, marketing, social media and websites for my own clients.  I’ve also spent the past two full weekends in class for the Personal Training Specialist certification and I’m now trying to find time somewhere to study for my exam, which I may need to delay due to my work load.

  • Blue Nose Marathon Team Myles Training is going well.
We train twice a week with Team Myles on Wednesday and Saturday.  I haven’t been to many of the Saturday training sessions lately because I’ve been on course and I play volleyball on Saturdays but the Wednesday sessions have been great.  Saturday sessions are more for distance and Wednesday sessions are more for speed so because I haven’t been to many of the Saturday sessions, I’m getting a bit worried about my endurance as I’m training for the 10k and the farthest I’ve ever run is 5k.  I’m going to have to start training some longer runs on my own time, which I don’t have.
  • My time in the gym has been suffering
I haven’t been to the gym yet this week and I’ve been lucky to get in to the gym at all lately and it’s killing me!!  I’ve been eating really well so that’s helped me not pack on a lot of weight but I can feel myself losing muscle mass by the second.  I know all I need is a good week back at it and I’ll be fine, but it’s a matter of finding time in that week to do so.  For the sake of my sanity, I think I’m going to have to start “scheduling” my gym time and making sure I don’t cancel that appointment in my calendar.  I’ve started this approach as of today!
  • Mama I’m Comin’ Home
I’m heading home to visit my family this weekend.  My grandfather took a stroke a few weeks ago and I haven’t been able to get home to visit yet so I’m taking this weekend off from everything and I’m heading to PEI (for my American readers, it’s that little place in Canada that Regis and Kelly were there this past summer for a week!).  It’s also my 30th birthday next Friday so I figured it’d be a good time to see the fam since I haven’t since Christmas.

Life is buys, but life is good!  I’ll be happy when things slow down a bit, but in the mean time, I’ve got an amazing woman and an amazing family who support me and I’m gunna ride this wave with a smile on my face.
