Tuesday, November 12, 2013 (Halifax, NS) – The Public Gardens gates will close to daily visits for the winter season, from November 30 to mid-April.

However, Gardens staff will make an effort to allow limited daytime visits as weather permits. The Gardens will be open by chance Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the winter. If the gates are open, the public is welcome to enter.

Please keep in mind that Gardens staff members are part of the Municipal Operations division for the municipality and there will be days when they have snow removal obligations that take them away from the Public Gardens. If no staff members are available or if snow and ice conditions make paths through the Gardens dangerous, the Gardens will not be open. Also, services in the Gardens will be limited for winter with no washrooms or coffee shop open until the spring.
