Literary Horoscopes – part 1

Capricorn
(December 23 – January 20)

2015 will be a year of new beginnings for you. Keep an open mind and be ready to explore.

If you like fiction, consider stories about self-acceptance and awakening, such as A Life in Men by Gina Frangello. Or try an exciting teen novel like Let’s Get Lost by Adi Alsaid, the story of a teenage girl on a road trip to Alaska.

Also consider picking up a non-fiction book about travel and exploring, such as Canada’s Road: A Journey on the Trans-Canada Highway from St. John’s to Victoria by Mark Richardson.

Aquarius
(January 21 – February 19)

The new year will bring many opportunities to connect with people in both your personal and professional life. It will be a great time for creativity and learning.

This year, you might enjoy stories about the connections between people like the novel The Last Good Paradise by Tatjana Soli. Or try some non-fiction about making connections via technology like Tell Everyone: why we share and why it matters by Alfred Hermida.

You could also stretch your creative muscles with do-it-yourself non-fiction, such as Make It Mighty Ugly: exercises and advice for getting creative even when it ain’t pretty by Kim Piper Werker.

Pisces
(February 20 – March 20)

2015 will bring more career responsibilities and recognition. With these changes, it’s important to focus on taking care of yourself.

Center yourself by reading inspirational memoirs such as Eat, Pray, Love: one woman’s search for everything across Italy, India and Indonesia by Elizabeth Gilbert.

If you’re in the mood for fiction, consider something quirky and uplifting like The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion.

Listening to some soothing music like The Ultimate Relaxation Album: pure calm can also relieve stress.

Aries
(March 21 – April 20)

2015 is a year to rekindle your romantic passion. Take this time to explore love and form new relationships or to reconnect with friends and loved ones.

Liven up your dating scene with some humorous non-fiction like
The Geek’s Guide to Dating by Eric Smith. Or for some historical fiction, find an epic love story like The Garden of Letters by Alyson Richman.

Finally, try unwinding with some feel-good love songs like those in the musical CD Love Scene: romantic movie music.

Taurus

(April 21 – May 21)

Your family and home life will be important in 2015. Pay special attention to any projects that need doing around the house in order to build an atmosphere of security and teamwork.

Use your woodworking skills with Outdoor Wood Projects: 24 projects you can build in a weekend by Steve Cory.

Or settle down with a heartwarming cozy mystery such as Amanda Cooper’s Tempest in a Teapot or a domestic fiction novel like
Sarah Addison Allen’s First Frost.

Gemini
(May 22- June 21)

2015 will be a great year to meet new people by getting involved in community activities.

If you like fiction and graphic novels, try A Bride’s Story by Kaoru Mori and watch as Amir settles into her new tribe and family life.

Read about a whole town connecting through baking with Friendship Bread by Darien Gee.

Or explore friendship in all its forms with Friendship Poems, which is edited by Peter Washington.
