Little Narrows Woman charged with Animal Neglect in Halifax

A Little Narrows, Cape Breton woman has been charged under the Criminal Code of Canada after she left a dog inside of a vehicle for undetermined amount of time and failing to provide the dog with adequate food and water.

Bethany MacLean was charged under section 445.1.1 (a) of the Criminal Code for willfully causing unnecessary suffering, or injury to an animal.  MacLean was also charged under section 446 (b) of the criminal code for failing to provide suitable and adequate food, water, shelter and care for it.

The SPCA was alerted to the scene by Halifax Regional Police where a deceased dog was removed from a vehicle in a parkade in Halifax, NS. The remains were sent to pathology for necropsy.  MacLean was subsequently arrested by Halifax Regional Police and later released with a condition to appear in court on September 14th, 2017.
