REPLAY: North End Matters, Wed Dec 5 2012

At the “Can We Talk?” event that was held by Dr. Ingrid Waldron in February
of this year, various community members from Halifax’s North End gathered to
discuss the future of their community. One of the many topics discussed was
the systemic factors that often limit the extent to which an individual or
community could have an impact on the community.

These factors include:
finding new and better ways to support individuals and organizations in
making a meaningful difference in the community; increasing inter-agency
co-operation and resource/skill sharing; and changing funding from
government and corporations in a way that offers not only more stability for
a given project but, for the people collaborating on it.

This week’s North End Matters welcomes Carolann Wright-Parks – Manager of
Community Economic Development & Strategic Engagement for the Greater
Halifax Partnership to the discussion.

Carolann Wright-Parks brings a lifelong passion for community development to
her work. She has over 30 years of professional and volunteer experience in
the field and has been involved in projects from Toronto to South Africa.
She is known for her concern for the will of the community. We are pleased
to have her on the show for this week’s discussion.

North End Matters is a live-streamed, online talk show that brings in policy
makers and service providers to discuss upcoming changes in the North End.
We stream live at haligonia.ca and anyone can join our live discussion by
using the chat service built into the stream’s page.
