Lower Water Street and Duke Street – Underground Pipe Installation

Tuesday, April 7, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents of traffic control measures implemented  today on Lower Water Street at Duke Street, to enable the installation of a new underground sanitary sewer line for the Halifax Ferry Terminal and the provincial Law Courts buildings.

Beginning today and continuing for the next two weeks, a lane drop will be in place on Lower Water Street at the intersection of Duke Street. Traffic control personnel are on site to assist buses exiting from the Water Street Terminal to merge with outbound traffic and to manage vehicles entering and exiting the underground parking garage located at the provincial Law Courts.

The crosswalk on the south side of the intersection connecting 1801 Hollis Street to the provincial Law Courts and the Water Street Terminal will be closed; however, pedestrians can still cross Lower Water Street on the north side of the intersection, and pedestrian access will be maintain around the site.

While the work to install the new sewer line is expected to take several weeks, the above noted traffic control measures should only be required for the next two weeks.

Motorists should expect delays and are asked to find alternate routes, if possible.

The municipality regrets any inconvenience that may be caused by this work.
