Lunenburg County District RCMP is investigating a suspicious house fire that occurred yesterday.
On Tuesday, September 22 at approximately 12:40 p.m., Lunenburg County District RCMP and the Blockhouse Fire Department responded to a house fire on Demone Rd.
in Maitland. The fire was extinguished, however it had caused significant damage to the residence and claimed the life of a family pet.
The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the Fire Marshal’s Office. Police believe that the fire was not a random act, and the incident is being treated as suspicious.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen any suspicious individuals or a light coloured car at the location before or during the fire to please contact the Lilydale RCMP Detachment at (902) 634-8674.
