Join Dr. Gaynor Watson-Creed, Medical Officer of Health, for a community conversation about Lyme disease.

The meeting will take place on Monday, June 22, 6-8pm at Basinview Drive Community School in Bedford (273 Basinview Drive).

What is Lyme disease?

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection transmitted by a Blacklegged tick. The insect can only transmit the bacteria after it has been attached to the skin (feeding on blood) for about 24 hours.

The disease can be prevented by avoiding Blacklegged tick bites. To date, Blacklegged ticks have been found in three areas of the province: in Lunenburg County, Admiralʹs Cove area in Bedford and Gunning Cove in Shelburne County.

In this meeting, you’re invited to sit down with experts from Nova Scotia Health Promotion and Protection, the Department of Natural Resources and the Public Health Agency of Canada to learn more about the prevention of Lyme disease in Admiral’s Cove.
