HHBridges release:
Halifax Harbour Bridges advises that The A. Murray MacKay Bridge will be closed to all traffic from Friday, March 28, at 7:00 p.m. until Monday, March 31, at 5:30 a.m. to allow work to begin on the removal of the toll booth plaza.
Motorists are advised to plan ahead and use alternate routes. Drivers of commercial vehicles are reminded they are not permitted to use the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge. Extra patrols will be in place to ticket and turnaround unauthorized vehicles.
Traffic congestion is expected, and extra travel time may be required to reach destinations. HHB will execute lane changes on the Macdonald Bridge as appropriate to control traffic flow.
We appreciate the public’s patience as we take this important step in the transition to a toll-free system.
Further work will be required but it is unlikely another weekend closure will be needed for another month.
