The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents and motorists that construction for the first phase of Main Street transit queue jump lane will begin tomorrow.

Construction will take place on Main Street between Gordon Avenue/Major Street and Hartlen Street. The first phase is expected to take three weeks.

Beginning tomorrow, the left turn lane on Main Street to Gordon Street will be closed. This lane closure will be permanent. Inbound traffic on Main Street will have to access Tacoma Drive from Hartlen Street.

Crews will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Two-lane traffic and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Local businesses will remain open and accessible to pedestrians.

Motorists should expect delays in the area and are asked to use an alternative route whenever possible.

The priority bus lane is funded in part by the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund (PTIF).

The municipality appreciates your patience while this work is completed.
