Mainland South Heritage Society’s exhibit at library until early April

Hi everyone,

I stopped by the library in the Captain William Spry Community Centre today, and saw a great exhibit of historic Spryfield photos with captions, put on by the Mainland South Heritage Society and Iris Shea. You may remember they had a heritage tea a few weeks back. Even if you missed the tea, you can still catch the exhibit on the main floor of the library. Photos more than 100 years old are up….and the neat thing is, you can still recognize some buildings today. There’s a blue house on Fairmount Road, just above the roundabout, that I have walked past and always loved. It has enormous peaked windows, and I always thought that they were salvaged from a church. Not true, as it turns out – that house WAS a church and was converted into a home.

Scott at the library told me that the exhibit will be there until early April, so if you get a chance, you should check it out.
