Majority of municipal recreation facilities to open by 12 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 8, 2017 (Halifax, NS) – The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents that the majority of municipal recreation facilities, including arenas and the Emera Oval, will be open by 12 p.m. today, as clean-up progresses from the most recent winter storm.

Some recreation facilities, including arenas, are already open for the day as scheduled while others have delayed opening until 12 p.m. Please note that a small number of recreation centres are still challenged by local conditions, and may remain closed until such time that parking lots are cleared and access is provided to the facility.

Residents are strongly encouraged to call ahead to their individual facility to confirm the status of their facility with respect to any program delays or cancellations.

The municipality regrets any inconvenience this may cause. Please visit www.halifax.ca/snow for the most up-to-date snow clearing service updates, and the status of municipal services.
