Male arrested with loaded gun, female struck in crosswalk, woman stabbed, B&E on Macara St

From Halifax Police:

Just after 9 p.m., members of the Central Division Quick Response Unit observed a 17-year-old male on Uniacke Street near Breen Street who was wanted by HRP in relation to Drug Trafficking. 

The members attempted to arrest the youth and a brief foot pursuit ensued. As the officers caught the youth from behind, he reached under the front of his clothing and threw to the ground what turned out to be a loaded handgun. He was taken into custody without further incident and the gun was safely recovered by the officers. The youth will appear in court today facing Cocaine Trafficking charges, numerous firearms related charges, and charges of Breaching Probation.
 
At 9:30 p.m. a 20-year-old female was struck by a car as she crossed Cowie Hill Road at the intersection with Herring Cove Road. She was taken to hospital by EHS with injuries that amounted to cuts and bruises. The 27-year-old female driver of the car was issued a ticket for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
 
At 12:45 a.m. a delivery person was approached by a female on Wyse Road who was bleeding from her back, stating she’d been stabbed. Police were contacted and the 31-year-old victim advised responding officers she was stabbed during a confrontation with two females on Primrose Street. She was transported to hospital by ambulance. Her injuries are not life threatening. A number of Patrol members and a K9 Unit conducted the initial investigation and the matter will be forwarded to the Integrated General Investigative Section for further investigation. No arrests have been made at this time.
 
HRP received a call from a citizen at 2:49 a.m. who had observed a male scale a fence and enter a secure commercial compound in the 5800 block of Macara Street. He was believed to be attempting to enter vehicles in the compound. Responding members arrested a 26-year-old male who as a result of investigation is scheduled to appear in court today facing charges of Break and Enter, Possession of Break in tools, and Breaching Probation.
