Man and Woman Charged for Producing Fraudulent Bus Passes

The HRP/RCMP Integrated Financial Crime Unit has charged a man and woman with multiple fraud-related charges.

In May 2012, an investigation was launched after numerous fraudulent Metro Transit passes started to surface around HRM. Members of the HRP/RCMP Financial Crime Unit conducted a search warrant at a residence in the 0-100 block of Drysdale Road in Halifax on June 20, 2013. Officers seized several items used to produce fraudulent bus passes. A 30 year-old-man and a 31-year-old woman were arrested without incident. They each face four fraud-related charges: forgery; possession of instruments of forgery; transferring, selling, and offering a forged document; and possessing a forged document with intent. They were released from custody and will appear in Halifax Provincial Court on July 25.

This was the second search conducted in relation to the on-going fraud investigation. A 40-year-old man was arrested on June 14, 2013 in Dartmouth and also faces a number of fraud-related charges.
