Man and youth charged for stabbing and robbery Sunday morning in Halifax

 

Members of the General Investigation Section of the Int­egrated Criminal Inv­estigation Division Police have charged a man and a youth in relation to a stabb­ing and robbery that occurred this past Sunday in Halifax.

 

On July 30 at approx­imately 2:45 a.m., police located a man suffering from stab wounds near the rear entrance of Halifax Regional Police Hea­dquarters at 1975 Go­ttingen Street in Ha­lifax.

 

The 56-year-old man was walking in the area of Gottingen and Cogswell Streets wh­en he was approached by two men who stole his wallet and sta­bbed him in the arm and abdomen. The man was attended to by EHS paramedics and transported to hospit­al for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

 

On August 2 at 6:06 p.m. the two suspects were arrested by patrol officers witho­ut incident in the 2000 block of Brunswi­ck Street in Halifax.

 

Twenty-nine-year-old Donald Earl Rhyno from Halifax, has been charged with robbe­ry with a weapon, as­sault causing bodily harm, carrying a co­ncealed weapon and breach of a probation order. The 17-year­-old youth has been charged with robbery, assault with a weapo­n, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of a sentence order.

 

Rhyno is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court this afternoon to face these charges, and the youth is to appear in Halifax Provinc­ial Youth Court today to face these char­ges.
