Man arrested after assaulting and threatening people in Halifax

Police have charged a man in relation to an assault that occurred on Saturday night in Halifax.

At approximately 11:20 p.m., September 8, police responded to a residence in the 0-100 block of Frederick Avenue in Halifax. Officers found a man threatening another man and woman with a knife. Prior to police arrival the man with the knife physically assaulted the other man resulting in non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was taken to hospital by EHS for treatment.

The suspect, 32-year-old Joshua Mitchell Zinck of Halifax, was arrested without incident andappeared in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of:

  • aggravated assault
  • 2 counts of assault with a weapon
  • possession of a weapon dangerous to the public
  • 3 counts of uttering threats
  • breach of probation
