RCMP release:
Lunenburg District RCMP seized a firearm and arrested a man during a traffic stop in Rhodes Corner. This incident is associated to a firearms-related complaint currently under investigation by Bridgewater Police Service.
On July 29 at approximately 9:15 p.m., RCMP responded to a report of a person in possession of a firearm in a vehicle on Hwy. 325. Officers were aware that Bridgewater Police Service was investigating a firearms-related complaint in Bridgewater approximately one hour earlier and believed that the person in the vehicle was associated to the Bridgewater Police Service investigation.
Lunenburg District RCMP officers located the vehicle on Raven Dr. and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, Brendan Ramsey, was safely arrested. Officers also located and seized a loaded firearm and ammunition from the vehicle.
Ramsey, 30, of Rhodes Corner, is facing several charges including Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Careless Use of a Firearm. He had a first court appearance on July 30 at Bridgewater Provincial Court and was released by the courts on conditions. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 24 at Bridgewater Provincial Court.
Lunenburg District RCMP later supported Bridgewater Police Service in the execution of a search warrant in Bridgewater, leading to the seizure of a second firearm associated to a different person.
