Investigators with the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division have charged a man in relation to a fire that occurred Sunday night in Halifax. At 6:36 p.m. on May 29, officers responded to a report of garbage on fire in the alleyway in the 5500 block of Cunard Street. Police were informed that a man had been observed in the alleyway moments before the fire started and had then walked west on Cunard Street. Following an investigation, a man was arrested at 5:30 p.m. on May 31 in the 2000 block of Gottingen Street without incident. Forty-year-old Shawn St. Claire McOnie of Halifax was held in custody overnight. He is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of arson and breach of a recognizance. 16-78240 Source: Release
