Man arrested for assaulting youth at Cole Harbour District High

A 42-year-old Dartmouth man has been arrested for assault and mischief for an incident that occurred on October 3 at Cole Harbour District High.

An altercation occurred when the man removed earbuds from a 15-year-old youth’s ears. The youth then removed the man’s lanyard that was attached to keys in his pants pocket. The man then pushed the youth into a wall, and put him on the floor. The youth reported the incident to the school administration and was then checked by EHS. He was not injured. The RCMP commenced a detailed investigation of the incident, including statements from many witnesses.

The suspect has been placed on administrative leave. He was arrested on November 9, released on conditions, and is scheduled to attend Dartmouth Provincial Court on December 12.

The investigation is ongoing.
