Investigators in the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man who approached a young girl and assaulted her outside a school in Halifax yesterday.
Police responded to Duc D’Anville Elementary School located at 12 Clayton Park Drive for a suspicious person call after staff reported that at 2:50 p.m. an unknown man assaulted an eight-year-old student, who was outside by a wooded area as part of a physical education class, by grabbing her from behind and pushing her to the ground. When the teacher and the girl’s fellow students started to call her name, the man left on foot. The girl was not physically injured and did the right thing by immediately telling school staff about the incident.
The suspect is described as a man with dark brown skin, 5’10”, with short brown hair. He was wearing a black winter jacket and black pants at the time of the incident.
Investigators are in the early stages of this investigation. Anyone who has information about this incident and/or can identify the suspect is asked to contact police at 902-490-5016.
