Man barricades himself in apartment, assault on Barrington St

Two men were charged overnight in separate incidents on both sides of the harbour.

Barricaded Person

At approximately 11:20 pm, East Division officers responded to the 100 block of Albro Lake Road for a dispute between neighbours. Upon arriving one of the involved parties would not exit his apartment to speak with police. Responding members believed they heard what they thought was a gun being racked, and the 38 year old male made threats that he had weapons and ammunition in his apartment  The male remained in communication with police from within his apartment for several hours. The Emergency Response Team was called out, however, the male emerged from his apartment was arrested without incident just as they were arriving. He is scheduled to appear in court this morning charged with Uttering Threats and Property Damage. There were no weapons found in the apartment.

Aggravated Assault

At approximately 11:30 hours police responded to the 2000 block of Barrington Street to a report of two injured males. Police and Emergency Health Services attended to the males who were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. After speaking with several witnesses still on scene, police arrested a 53 year old male who was charged with Aggravated Assault. He will appear in court in the morning.
