A Dartmouth man has been charged in relation to six break and enters after attempting to cash in​ stolen lottery tickets.

On March 28 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a commercial alarm at a business in the 1600​ block of Sackville Dr. in Middle Sackville.​ It appeared that entry was​ gained by breaking the front door’s glass window and lottery tickets and cigarettes were stolen. There was no one inside the business at the time of the incident but security footage revealed that a lone male suspect was involved. 

On April 2 at approximately 3:15 a.m., Halifax District RCMP responded to a commercial alarm at a business in the 300 block of Sackville Dr. in Lower Sackville.Upon arrival, members saw that entry was gained by breaking the front door’s glass window and lottery tickets were stolen. There was no one inside the business at the time of the incident but security footage revealed​ that​ someone appearing to be the same lone male suspect was involved.

On April​ 2 at approximately 2:30 p.m., Halifax District RCMP received a call from a business on Highway 2​ in Enfield, advising that a man​ tried to cash in stolen lottery tickets before leaving in a vehicle​ with a female passenger.​ Quick-thinking witnesses recorded a description of the​ man and vehicle, license plate number and direction of travel.​ The man’s​ description matched that of the suspect seen in security footage at the previous crime scenes. This information helped police locate the​ man and woman​ involved in the incident inside the same vehicle at an Elmsdale business less than 15 minutes later.

David John Campbell, 44 years old, was arrested without incident. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on April 5 at 9:30 a.m. to answer to six counts of Break and Enter, four of which relate to previous incidents in Halifax Regional Police area.

The woman seen leaving the Enfield business with Campbell on April 3 was also arrested without incident​ at the Elmsdale business. She was released and​ faces charges of​ Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. She​ is scheduled to attend Dartmouth Provincial Court on May 22 at 09:30 a.m.

The RCMP would like the thank the witnesses​ who provided suspect and vehicle descriptions. They​ were extremely helpful in​ locating the suspects.
