A man faces charges after he fled from police during a traffic stop last night in Dartmouth.
At 8:38 p.m., two officers conducted a traffic stop on Highway 111 of a vehicle whose registered owner was listed as having a revoked license. Officers approached the vehicle and spoke to the driver who was the lone occupant. The driver pulled away and fled the scene at a high rate of speed, striking one officer’s arm and the other officer’s hand. The officers were not injured and were able to follow the vehicle which was located abandoned on Lakemist Court. The K-9 Unit conducted a track and was able to locate the man who was arrested a few minutes later.
Thirty-nine-year-old Patrick Carl Shea of Dartmouth is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of dangerous driving, flight, breaching a driving prohibition, breach of probation, two counts of assault police officer and three counts of breach of recognizance.
