Man charged after punching victim, hitting him with nearby items

HRP release:

On June 21 at approximately 10:40 p.m., officers responded to a weapons call in the 2400 block of Gottingen Street in Halifax.

A man approached two other men, not known to him. Without provocation, the man began hitting one of the men with various objects and then punched him. The victim was transported to the hospital by EHS with non-life-threatening injuries. The other man was able to flee and was not physically harmed.

The suspect left the scene on foot prior to police arrival. At approximately 10:50 p.m., officers located and arrested him a short distance away.

Tristan Last, 37, is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court today to face charges of assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, assault and breach of probation order (x2).
