Annapolis District RCMP has charged a man following a serious incident in Torbrook.
Yesterday, at approximately 9:50 a.m., Annapolis District RCMP responded to a firearms complaint at a home on Torbrook rd. RCMP officers learned that a man and a woman had attended the residence to drop off food to a man known to them.
When they arrived, the man they were expecting to meet exited the house. A few minutes later, a second man, also known to them, exited the home, threatened the two who had brought food, and then shot at them with a shotgun.
The 46-year-old man and 37-year-old woman, both from Greenwood, fled the area in their vehicle. They were not physically injured.
At approximately 11:25 a.m., Annapolis District RCMP, assisted by Kings District RCMP, safely arrested the two men who voluntarily exited the home.
That afternoon, a search warrant was executed at the residence. During the search, RCMP officers located and seized a shotgun, ammunition and powder believed to be cocaine.
Cody Reid Palmer, 27, has been charged with:
- Discharging a Firearm with Intent
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Pointing a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Uttering Threats
- Failure to Comply with a Probation Order (two counts)
Palmer was remanded into custody and will appear in Digby Provincial on February 12, 2024, at 9:30 a.m.
The second person arrested, a 28-year-old Torbrook man, was later released without charges.
The investigation is ongoing, with the assistance from the RCMP Forensic Identification Services.
