At approximately 2:00 p.m. police responded to a robbery that had just occurred at the Royal Bank located at 44 Portland St. A man entered the bank and passed a note to the teller demanding cash. No weapon was scene and the man left empty-handed and fled on foot.
At approximately 2:26 p.m. police responded to another report of a robbery that had occurred at the Bank of Montreal located at 21 MicMac Blvd. A man matching the same description entered the bank and passed a note to the teller which stated he wanted cash and that he had a weapon. No weapon was observed and the man left empty-handed and fled the area on foot where he was apprehended by police shortly after.
No staff members or members of the public where injured during either incident.
The 68 year old man is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later date to face 2 charges of robbery.
