RCMP release:
Halifax District RCMP has charged a man in relation to thefts from motor vehicles in the Cole Harbour area.
Between August 8 and 16, 2023, Halifax District RCMP responded to numerous reports of vehicle having been broken into in the Cole Harbour. RCMP officers learned that during many of the break-ins, wallets had been stolen from the vehicles. Credit cards from some of the stolen wallets were used at multiple businesses across the HRM.
On August 22, 47-year-old Corey Lewis Cyr, of Halifax, who was in custody on unrelated matters, was arrested by Halifax District RCMP. Cyr was held in custody overnight.
On August 23, Cyr was charged with Use of a Stolen Credit Card (12 counts), Theft under $5,000 (3 counts) and Stealing a Credit Card. He appeared in Halifax Provincial Court and was released on conditions, by the court. He will return to Halifax Provincial Court on October 18, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
In every case, the vehicles the wallets were stolen from had been left unlocked.
