A Halifax man has been charged in connection with a theft of money raised during this year’s poppy campaign.
On November 6 at 3:40 p.m. police received a report of a theft at Tim Hortons, 1047 Barrington Street in Halifax. A man had entered the Tim Hortons, and after a short while, took the poppy can and exited the restaurant.
Through the investigation, patrol officers identified a suspect and on November 9, 2016 at about 5:40 p.m. arrested a 51-year-old man without incident at the intersection of Cunard and Gottingen Streets in Halifax.
George Allen Clayton of Halifax is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court today to face charges of theft under $5,000, possession of property by crime under $5,000, and failure to comply with a probation order (two counts).
