Man charged with abduction

RCMP has charged Darcy Dwayne Doyle, 47, of Mira Gut, with Abduction as part of a missing person investigation.

On August 13, Eskasoni RCMP began an investigation into a missing 14-year-old youth who was believed to be with Doyle. The investigation was conducted in collaboration with Cape Breton Regional Police Service (CBRPS), which included use of CBRPS patrol, Emergency Response Team, drones, and forensic identification services. On August 22 at about 1 a.m., police located the missing youth and Doyle in the Canoe Lake area, Southeast Cape Breton. Both were transported out of the wooded area. Doyle was held in custody pending charges.


On August 22, a charge Abduction of a Person Under the Age of 16 was laid against Doyle. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Sydney Provincial Court on August 26.
