Police have charged a man with attempted murder in relation to an incident that occurred in Halifax last November as well as four robberies that occurred in Dartmouth this month.
On September 25, members of the patrol division and General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division, with assistance from members of the Lower Sackville and Windsor detachments of the RCMP arrested Gregory Thomas Weeks, 28, of Dartmouth in the 1600 block of King Street in Windsor, Nova Scotia.
Weeks is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charges of:
- Attempted murder
- Robbery (x 4)
- Possession of weapon dangerous to the public (x 5)
- Using a firearm in the commission of an offence
- Discharging a firearm with intent
- Careless use of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized.
- Assault with a weapon
- Fleeing police in conveyance
- Dangerous operation of a conveyance
- Operation of a conveyance while prohibited (2)
The charges are in relation to the below incidents:
November 25, 2019: Police responded to a shooting in the 5000 block of Tower Terrace in Halifax. A woman inside a residence was struck with a bullet that was fired through a window from outside the residence. She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
September 3, 2020: Police responded to a report of a robbery at the Esso gas station at 174 Ochterloney Street in Dartmouth. A man with a knife entered the store and demanded cash and cigarettes. The suspect took a quantity of cash and cigarettes and fled on foot towards Prince Albert Road. The employee did not report any physical injuries.
September 4 2020: Police responded to a report of a robbery at Highfield Variety at 94 Highfield Park Drive in Dartmouth. A man with a knife entered the store and demanded cash and cigarettes. The suspect took a quantity of cash and cigarettes and fled on foot towards the pathway between 94 and 96 Highfield Park Drive. The employee did not report any physical injuries.
September 4 2020: Police responded to a robbery at the Irving gas station at 200 Waverley Road in Dartmouth. A man with a knife entered the store and demanded cash and cigarettes. The suspect took a quantity of cash and cigarettes and fled on foot The employee did not report any physical injuries.
September 23,2020: Police responded to of a robbery that occurred in the 0-100 block of Kennedy Drive Dartmouth. A man responded to an advertisement of a vehicle that was for sale. When the man went to meet the seller, he produced a knife and attempted to take the vehicle. The victim locked themselves in the vehicle and the suspect fled on foot. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
