Man charged with illegal possession of numerous firearms

Colchester County District RCMP has charged a man with firearms offences after a search warrant was executed at a home in Upper Stewiacke.

RCMP officers received information that a resident of Stewiacke Rd. was in possession of numerous firearms and did not have a valid firearms licence.

The Colchester County General Investigation Section and Street Crime Enforcement Unit, with assistance from RCMP Police Dog Services, the Emergency Response Team and Colchester County Detachment, safely arrested the 58-year-old man at his residence in the early morning hours of March 27. 

Officers then executed a search warrant on the man’s property and located numerous unsecured firearms.

Darrell Locke of Upper Stewiacke has been charged with:

  • Careless Use of Firearm (eight counts)
  • Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized (eight counts)
  • Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
  • Unsafe Storage of Firearms (eight counts)

Locke was released on conditions and will be in Truro Provincial Court on June 5 at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
