The arrest came after a week-long investigation by the Integrated Halifax Regional Police/RCMP Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit.
Members of the Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 5400 block of Inglis Street in Halifax on Tuesday night.
Thirty-three-year-old Edgar Troy Barrington was arrested without incident in the dwelling subsequent to the search.
Mr. Barrington was later released and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on November 17 to face Internet Luring charges. The conditions of his release restrict his computer use and contact with children.
Unbeknownst to the suspect, the child he was attempting to lure through the Internet was actually an undercover police officer.
