Police have charged a man after conducting a search in Dartmouth in relation to sexual assault and child pornography investigations.
On January 5, 2023, police received a report of a sexual assault of a youth that that had occurred in Dartmouth in 2022. Through the course of the investigation additional victims were identified. Yesterday, investigators in the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division conducted a search of an address in Dartmouth, arrested the suspect and seized a number of electronic devices for forensic analysis.
Cameron James Martin Cann, 20, is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court at a later date to face charges of:
- Sexual assault
- Sexual interference
- Luring a person under the age of 16 by means of telecommunications
- Agreement to commit a sexual offence against a person under the age of 16
- Luring a person under the age of 18 by means of telecommunications
- Possession of child pornography
- Printing and publishing of child pornography
