Man charged with sex offenses involving six female youth

Meteghan RCMP Detachment has charged a Salmon River man with sexual offences and investigators believe there may be additional victims.

On March 4, Meteghan RCMP Detachment received a report of child exploitation and immediately began an investigation. Throughout the investigation, officers learned that a 25-year-old man had initiated multiple romantic relationships with female youth who were known to him. The relationships involved the man contacting the victims online and exchanging intimate images with the youth.

As a result, Bailey Raymond Deveau has been charged with:

  • Luring a Child (six counts);
  • Making Sexually Explicit Material Available to Child (six counts).

Deveau was arrested and held in custody. He is scheduled to appear in Yarmouth Provincial Court on April 9 at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is continuing, and investigators believe that there may be more victims.
