Police have charged a man with weapons offences in relation to an incident in Halifax on the weekend.
On February 18 at approximately 12:25 p.m. members of the Public Safety Unit were in the 1700 block of Barrington Street in relation to a planned demonstration. Officers located a man in the area with a number of weapons.
Officers arrested the man, and he was taken into custody, after a brief struggle. Officers seized an axe, sensory irritant, brass knuckles, and a collapsible baton.
The 44-year-old man is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court at a later date to face charges of:
- Assaulting a peace officer
- Possession of a prohibited weapon
- Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace
- Carrying a weapon while at a public meeting
- Mischief
- Resisting arrest (x2)
